BDR Revolt Goes On: PM asked them to surrender

BDR Revolt goes on. They want full withdrawal of army from various strategic points of citiy. Army stays in various points of the city since yesterday.Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina delivered special speech to the nation. She urged BDR to surrender otherwise she will go for tough action.

There are news that revolt spreading through out the country in BDR offices. General people are safe though people are tensed and frustrated about the defense. The revolt is limited to the headquarters and BDR places. People want peace.General people urged government to ask army to go back cantonment so that BDR soldiers feel confident to surrender. Otherwise the condition may be worse. Some sources from telecom operators confirmed this writer that government put restrictions on mobile call. They assume that there may be a state of emergency any moment.

Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) the border security force of the country has revolted today morning (February 25, 2009) in its Headquarter, Dhaka. BDR demanded to uplift its standard through designing advance career path and increasing salary and benefits. BDR's armies broke the discipline and started open firing and came out in the road. Many general people were wounded and some people died by firing. At afternoon,Government and BDR people came into a solution. Under this solution government declared a genral pardon to them and BDR promised to maintain discipline and command. However government did not declare curfew or emergency. The life here in Dhaka is normal though there was a guess of declaring emergency. # A support to BDR is expressed through facebook updates of Bangladeshi people. # Government ignored the problems of BDR people # Incident like 1/11 inspired BDR to revolt instead of official demand # BDR courageously works at border to protect our independence.
